Koenig and Moo did an experiment here. Exactly what I was asking for in my review of Effective C++ below. If that doesn't prove that everyone reads my reviews all the time, I don't know what does. The thing is, you can actually learn C++ from the STL side first and only get to memory allocation nits as an advanced subject. And that's how this book is built up. Personally, I'm sure this approach is better, but I'd love to see it tried in real life on an experimental batch of innocents. (Added 1/2002)
